This Privacy Policy applies to both the SafeCase website and the SafeCase mobile application.

SafeCase is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store and protect your personal information in accordance with the Australian Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).

Who We Are

SafeCase is an Australian application designed to assist individuals involved in family law matters, domestic situations, workplace matters, personal documentation, and related legal or administrative proceedings.

SafeCase is operated from Australia and your use of this website and application is governed by Australian law.

Information We Collect

We collect only the information necessary to provide our services.

This may include:

  • Account information, including your name, email address, and optionally your mobile number.
  • Case data, including documents, notes, evidence files, incidents, timelines and other content you create or upload.
  • Audit logs, which record significant account activity.
  • App preferences, including privacy settings such as Incognito Mode and Quick Exit.
  • Feedback, bug reports and suggestions that you voluntarily submit.

We do not collect financial information, precise location data, device contacts, or information beyond what you voluntarily provide.

How We Use Your Information

Your information is used solely to:

  • Authenticate your identity and secure your account.
  • Store and organise your case files, evidence, incidents and records.
  • Maintain audit logs for security and integrity purposes.
  • Respond to support requests, bug reports and feedback.
  • Meet legal or regulatory obligations where required.

We will never use your personal information for marketing or advertising purposes.

Data Storage and Security

SafeCase uses Google Firebase to store and process your data.

Firebase provides encryption in transit using Transport Layer Security (TLS) and encryption at rest for stored information.

Firebase infrastructure may store data on servers located outside Australia, including in the United States.

By using SafeCase, you consent to this international transfer where necessary to provide the service.

Access to user data is controlled through Firebase Security Rules. Only your authenticated account can access your personal information, case files, evidence, incidents and audit logs.

No other SafeCase user can access your information through the application.

SafeCase administrators do not have read access to your data through the application itself.

Audit Logging

SafeCase records audit logs of significant actions within your account.

Examples include:

  • Login and logout activity.
  • Account creation and deactivation.
  • Profile updates.
  • Evidence creation, editing and deletion.
  • Evidence linked or unlinked from incidents.
  • Privacy setting changes, including Incognito Mode and Quick Exit.
  • Case exports generated.
  • Feedback and bug reports submitted.

Audit logs are stored within your account and are not shared with third parties.

Sharing Your Information

SafeCase does not sell, rent or trade your personal information.

Information may only be disclosed in the following limited circumstances:

Service Providers

Data is stored and processed using Google Firebase infrastructure.

Legal Requirements

Where disclosure is required by law, court order, subpoena or government authority.

Safety

Where disclosure is necessary to prevent serious harm to you or another person.

Except for these circumstances, your information remains private.

Your Rights

Under the Australian Privacy Principles, you have the right to:

  • Access personal information we hold about you.
  • Request correction of inaccurate or outdated information.
  • Request deletion of your account and associated data.
  • Lodge a complaint with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC).

Your information is retained while your account remains active.

If you request account deletion, your account and associated data will be scheduled for deletion.

Local Device Storage

Certain privacy preferences, including Incognito Mode and Quick Exit settings, may be stored locally on your device.

This information is not uploaded to our servers and remains on your device only.

Recordings and Evidence

If you use SafeCase to store audio recordings, video recordings, photographs or other forms of recorded material, please be aware of the following.

Recording Laws Vary Across Australia

Recording another person without their knowledge or consent may be unlawful in your state or territory and, in some circumstances, may constitute a criminal offence.

Recording laws differ across Australian jurisdictions.

We encourage users to seek independent legal advice before making any recording.

Stored Material Is Not Guaranteed To Be Admissible In Court

The fact that information is stored in SafeCase does not mean it will be accepted as evidence in legal proceedings.

Admissibility is determined by the relevant court or tribunal based on how material was obtained, its relevance and applicable procedural rules.

SafeCase does not provide legal advice regarding evidence collection or admissibility.

Children's Privacy

SafeCase is not intended for individuals under 18 years of age.

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

If you believe a child has provided personal information, please contact us immediately.

Changes To This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time.

When changes are made, the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page will be revised.

Your continued use of SafeCase after changes are published constitutes acceptance of the updated Privacy Policy.
